Answers to my EQs

1.What are the difficulties in mobility
 faced by the elderly.
- Elderly have a hard time getting from place to place as their legs aren't as strong as they used to be.

2.What are some of the things that already help the elderly and are there any flaws in them?
-The walker
Pros: It helps the elderly move about. It has 4 legs and thus provides more balance and support. It is relatively light.
Cons: It has 4 legs so it makes it hard to carry around and hard to bring into narrow spaces. This also makes it hard for the elderly to sit down.

3.How can we help the elderly and make their lives easier?
-We design a slimmer and bendable walker that does not restrict much movement.

Edited EQs

My 3 chosen EQs:
1.What are the difficulties in mobility
 faced by the elderly.
-I ranked this as the most important as we have to know what problems the elderly are facing
before we can do something about the problem.

2.What are some of the things that already help the elderly and are there any flaws in them?
-This is the second most important as if there is a flaw in something that helps the elderly,
maybe we could improve the product and thus make the elderly's lives EVEN easier.

3.How can we help the elderly and make their lives easier?
-First, we find out what is bothering(or making things difficult)for the elderly. Then we focus on
those problems and think of solutions to make life easier for the elderly.

ADMT - Observation3 and 4

Observation 3: Sometimes pathways leading to entrances are designed to make the place look nicer and all but those pathways can sometimes be difficult for elderly to walk on eg. this pathway has gaps and plants are sticking out along it. There are also no railings and thus if an elderly trips over the plants, there is nothing for him/her to grab on to and the elderly may get injured.

Observation 4: Pathways are made of a rough material which is good as it will have a lot of friction and may prevent the elderly from slipping.

ADMT - Observation2

Observation 2: Some doors
of exits or doors leading to staircases or car parks
are very heavy and would probably
be too heavy for an elderly to push it open.
